Chapter 8

“Hello?” Cash answered the phone.

“What’s been going on, Cash? Long time no hear,” Sade said.

He quickly uttered aggressively, “Who da hell is this playing on my phone?”

She replied, “Boy, this Sade. Ain’t nobody playing on yo damn phone. Why you ain’t got my number locked in any way?”

“Oh, Sade, damn. Long time no hear from you, too, stranger. What a surprise to hear from you. My bad, I thought you were one of them groupie hoes seeking attention. I ain’t got ya number saved in my phone ‘cause in my last relationship, I deleted all female numbers out my phone out of respect, ya know what I mean?”

“Yeah, I hear ya, but check it out… How much do you buy them white squares with the stamps in the middle for up your way?”

“I get ‘em anywhere from $45,000 to $50,000 up here, depending on who got ‘em. But, when I come down to Atlanta and get ‘em, I pay anywhere from $40,000 to $42,000. Lately, I been paying $42,000. Why you ask?”

“Cause I got one I want you to check out, and if you like it, I’ll let you grab it for $40,000 every time. How does that sound?”

He replied, “It sounds good. So, what’s the catch? Why you want me to buy ‘em all the way up here in New York? Can’t you get off ‘em in Atlanta?”

“To be honest with you, I really only called you ‘cause I haven’t heard from you in a while, and I thought you probably wouldn’t mind taking it off my hands, that’s all.”

Cash quickly replied, “Aw naw, I don’t mind getting it from you, baby girl, if it’s some A-1 cocaine, but I can’t fuck with it if it’s not. I’d hate to waste your time, too. It ain’t just you that I don’t trust. It’s Atlanta niggaz in general. They play too many games when it comes down to doing business, ya feel me?”

“Yeah, I feel you, but when have you ever known me to be in the middle of some stupid shit?”

“I never have and you got a good point right there… Since that’s out the way, how many more of ‘em do you have that you wanna get off?”

Before Sade responded, she quickly muted the phone so Cash couldn’t hear her as she asked Junior, “How many mo’ of ‘em you have you wanna get off?”

He whispered, “One.”

She unmuted the phone and told Cash, “I got two altogether.”

Cash paused for a second before replying, “A’ight, so that’s $80,000. It’s okay if I check ‘em and cook a lil’ bit out each of ‘em before I buy ‘em ain’t it?”

Without asking Junior anything, she replied, “Yeah, it’s cool. Do whatever you wanna do. I’m trying to start a new relationship with you.”

“A’ight bet! We can definitely do that. I’ve been feeling you for a while anyway!” He laughed.

“Fool, I’m talking ‘bout a business relationship!”

“I know. I’m just fucking with you. I’ll see you tomorrow evening sometime.”

They both hung up.

He started pulling money from his safe and placing it on his money machine to count it out.
